A SparkleBerry Sublimation Wine Cooler? Yes Please!

SparkleBerry Sublimation Wine Cooler Project by: Mandy Graham, SparkleBerry Inspiration Curator

  • SparkleBerry Sublimation Transfer
  • Heat Press/EasyPress
  • Protective Paper: Butcher, Parchment or Copy Paper
  • Heat Safe Tape
  • Weeding Tools
  • Sublimatable Wine Cooler
  • Lint Roller

To get started, set your heat press or EasyPress to 400 °F. My heat press usually lands around 397°F when I set it at 400°F but those few degrees will not make a difference. If you have a timer on your heat press, set it to 75 seconds.

Next, prep your wine cooler by using your lint roller to remove any debris from the surface. We are going to be sublimating both sides, one side at a time.

Measure your wine cooler and cut a rectangle slightly larger out of a Sublimation Transfer. I used Mulled Cider-Cranberry. Make sure you have enough of the same pattern to do both sides.

Tape your wine cooler to the rectangle.

Next, cut two rectangles out of your protective paper. This can be butcher paper, parchment paper or even copy paper. The rectangles should be slightly larger than the sublimation transfer rectangle you just cut.

It's time for the "Sublimation Sandwich!"

I am a huge fan of Artesprix and their awesome tutorials and products. Ashley from Artesprix calls this next process, "making a sublimation sandwich." You can find the Artesprix Youtube channel here.

Ashley's explanation is a super easy way to think about it so I'm borrowing it today for you.

Place your items in this order on your heat press or a heat safe surface:

  • Bottom layer: Protective Paper
  • Wine cooler should be touching the bottom layer of protective paper. The taped transfer will be on top.
  • Top layer: Protective Paper

Here's where the magic is.

Heat Press Instructions:

Once you have your sandwich prepped, carefully close your heat press, ensuring that it is set to 400°F and the timer is set for 75 seconds. Your pressure doesn't have to be firm, medium pressure is sufficient. Now it's time for the sublimation happy dance...your wine cooler will be BEAUTIFUL!

EasyPress Instructions:

Place your sublimation sandwich on a firm, heat safe surface. You may want to place an additional larger sheet of protective paper slightly larger than your easy press platen beneath your sandwich to further protect the surface below your easy press. Set your Easypress to 400°F and 60 seconds. You'll place it directly on top of your sandwich and take your hands off for the duration of the press. You do not need to apply extra pressure.

And this is how your wine cooler should look after your first press!

Next, you'll repeat these same steps with the other side of the wine cooler and voila! You'll have the cutest wine glass at the party!

Please share pics of your projects on social media so we can see them! :) Use #SparkleBerryCraftKits so we're able to find them when you post!

xoxo, Mandy
