SparkleBerry Sublimation Ornament- Merry Christmas 2021

3 minute read

Is there anything better than a SparkleBerry Sublimation Ornament? Well, maybe two SparkleBerry ornaments... But anyways, this is such an easy and beautiful project, you HAVE to try it!

What you will need:

  • SparkleBerry Sublimation Transfer
  • Heat Press/EasyPress
  • Butcher, Parchment or Copy Paper- we refer to this as protective paper
  • Heat Safe Tape
  • Sublimatable Ornament
  • Alcohol wipe
  • Oracal 651 in white
  • Scissors
  • Squeege

Let's get started!

Start by cutting out your sublimation print from the included paper and preheat your heat press or EasyPress to 370°F. If you have a timer on your heat press, set it to 120 seconds.

Wipe off any dirt from your ornament with an alcohol wipe and let air dry. Place your sublimation transfer on your glass ornament with the printed side facing the glass. You can use the back so make sure you align the design correctly before securing it with heat safe tape.

Place your ornament inside your protective paper so you have protective paper on both sides of the ornament.

Time to make magic!

Place your sandwich on your press, making sure the protective paper hasn't moved. Double check your press is set to the right temperature (370 F) and your timer is set to 120 seconds. Close your press on medium pressure or place your EasyPress on the item and apply light, even pressure while the timer counts down. Do not apply too much pressure or you can crack the ornament.

Wait impatiently as the time counts down!

Once your press is done, carefully peel off the protective paper and sublimation paper. The glass ornament will be very hot! We recommend carefully moving the item using heat safe gloves and letting it cool a bit before removing the sublimation transfer. You can also use tweezers to peel off the tape and paper without touching your ornament.

But why is my print not vibrant?

Don't fret! The side you pressed on won't be very vibrant. You will actually get the best color on the other side of the ornament. But, since the ornament is clear and sublimation ink has no white, it will still look a little bit washed out which is where our white Oracal 651 comes into play!

Place your cooled ornament onto the back of your sheet of white Oracal and mark where to cut. Then cut out a square that matches the shape of your ornament. Apply the white Oracal to the same side that you pressed on. To be sure you have the correct side, look at both sides of the ornament and choose the one where the design looks mirrored. Use your squeege to apply the vinyl and make sure it is as smooth as possible. Cut off any excess if you have it.

Isn't this ornament beautiful?

Don't forget the Sublimation Transfer option is available on every single pattern on www.SparkleBerryInk.com! So you can decorate your whole tree with SparkleBerry Ornaments!
